What is a golf handicap calculator?

This calculator estimates the Handicap Index procedure in the U.S. World Handicap System. It is distinct from a simple Average Calculator because WHS uses only a defined number of the lowest recent differentials and may apply adjustments.

How does the golf handicap estimate work?

For 20 scores, the tool averages the lowest 8 differentials. For 3–19 scores, it applies the USGA table that specifies how many low values to use and whether an adjustment is required.

What formula does the score differential use?

Score Differential = (113 ÷ Slope Rating) × (Adjusted Gross Score − Course Rating − PCC). If rating inputs need decimal checking, the Percentage Calculator is not a substitute for this WHS formula.

Score Differential = (113 ÷ Slope Rating) × (Adjusted Gross Score − Course Rating − PCC)

How do you use this golf handicap calculator?

Choose ready-made differentials or round details, enter 3–20 rounds oldest to newest, and optionally provide the Low Handicap Index used for cap demonstrations. Use values from an authorized score record whenever possible.

What does the estimated Handicap Index mean?

The result represents demonstrated scoring ability under the entered record. It is rounded to one decimal and limited to the WHS maximum of 54.0; a lower value generally indicates stronger demonstrated ability.

Why can an official Handicap Index differ?

An authorized golf association can apply exceptional-score reductions, playing-condition calculations, committee adjustments, score-aging rules, and daily updates not fully reproduced here. The calculator result is educational, not an official credential.

Who should use this golf handicap estimator?

It is useful for U.S. golfers checking the arithmetic behind their record. For performance outside golf, use a sport-specific tool such as the Baseball Batting Average Calculator or Bowling Score Calculator.
