What is the IVF Due Date Calculator?

The IVF Due Date Calculator estimates an ART-derived EDD from a known embryo-transfer date and embryo age, or from an egg-retrieval/fertilization date. This is distinct from ordinary LMP dating because assisted reproduction provides known timing information.

How does the IVF Due Date Calculator work?

For embryo transfer, the calculation adds 266 minus the embryo age in days to the transfer date. A day-5 embryo transfer therefore adds 261 days. For egg retrieval or known fertilization, the calculation adds 266 days.

What formula or rule does it use?

Transfer: EDD = transfer date + (266 − embryo age) days; retrieval/fertilization: EDD = date + 266 days. The dynamic “How this answer was calculated” panel substitutes your entered values into that rule after a valid calculation.

Transfer: EDD = transfer date + (266 − embryo age) days; retrieval/fertilization: EDD = date + 266 days

How should you use this calculator?

Select embryo transfer or egg retrieval/fertilization, enter the procedure date, and—when using transfer—select the embryo age. If you only have an LMP, use the Due Date Calculator rather than estimating an IVF transfer date.

How should you understand the result?

The resulting date is an ART-derived estimated due date. ACOG recommends using ART-derived gestational age to assign the EDD when pregnancy results from assisted reproductive technology.

What are the limitations?

The calculator does not interpret ultrasound measurements, implantation timing, embryo-development concerns, or clinical circumstances. The fertility clinic or prenatal clinician remains the source for the documented EDD.

Who can use this calculator?

This tool is intended for people with known IVF procedure dates. After the EDD is established, the Pregnancy Week Calculator can map future dates to gestational weeks. To reconstruct fertilization timing from an established EDD, compare with the Conception Date Calculator, or use the Pregnancy Calculator for an LMP-based timeline when appropriate.
