How does the Travel Distance Calculator work?
Enter latitude from −90° to 90° and longitude from −180° to 180° for the starting and destination points. The calculator converts degrees to radians and applies the haversine formula.
What formula or rule does it use?
Haversine: a = sin²(Δφ/2) + cos φ₁ cos φ₂ sin²(Δλ/2); central angle = 2 atan2(√a, √(1−a)); distance = Earth radius × central angle. The dynamic “How this answer was calculated” panel substitutes the values you enter into the rule after a valid calculation.
