What is the Marine Corps Combat Fitness Test?

The USMC CFT includes movement to contact, ammunition-can lifts and maneuver under fire. The calculator combines three published event scores. The Army Fitness Test Calculator uses a separate U.S. Army scoring system.

How to use the USMC CFT calculator

Select the official age band and scoring table. Enter movement-to-contact time, the number of accepted ammunition-can lifts in two minutes and the official adjusted maneuver-under-fire time. Enter times in minutes and seconds, such as 2:45.

For optional record keeping, browse sports stopwatches (paid link). Record practice times in minutes and seconds.

How CFT points and classes are calculated

Each event is worth up to 100 points. A passing full test requires at least 40 in every event and 150 total. Passing totals of 150–199 are third class, 200–234 are second class and 235–300 are first class.

For an optional practice or checking aid, browse training journals (paid link). Keep raw practice times and final adjusted times separate.

How to read the CFT score chart

The three columns use the same 0–100 scale. The dashed line marks the minimum event score of 40. The total and class above the chart also account for the 150-point overall requirement.

If you are setting up a practice or review session, browse field cones (paid link). Mark practice positions on a suitable field.

Example of the event minimum rule

Event scores of 70, 80 and 85 add to 235 and meet the first-class threshold. Event scores of 100, 100 and 0 add to 200 but fall below the full-test passing thresholds because one event missed its minimum.

For optional equipment or reference material, browse hand tally counters (paid link). Record repetition counts during practice.

Official scores and timing limitations

This tool is for the full standard CFT and uses the published scoring tables. Enter the adjusted time recorded under official timing and penalty rules. Partial tests, waivers, alternate rules and official recording are handled through the applicable order and your unit.
